Vitamin D Supplement for Joint Pain – What Science ACTUALLY Says
Vitamin D is recognized for its role in bone and joint health, and there is interest in exploring whether it can improve symptoms and slow down the progression of arthritis. Research suggests that vitamin D may have anti-inflammatory effects, regulate cartilage maintenance, and improve muscle strength, potentially alleviating pain and stiffness associated with arthritis. Sunlight exposure and dietary sources are the primary ways to obtain vitamin D, but supplementation may be necessary for those with limited sun exposure or dietary restrictions. Lifestyle modifications and other treatment options should also be considered for comprehensive arthritis management.

Jeffrey Peng MD is a nonoperative orthopedist and sports medicine specialist.
